Please follow Lav on @ohitslavender on twitter and instagram to keep up with their projects and if you’d like to come and see the gigs Lav will be promoting please buy tickets on: talesfromotherworlds.ticketlight.co.uk/ and if unable to, please follow @talesfromotherworlds on instagram
In this podcast, Lavender joins me to talk about their life and their experience as a composer, as well as being a professional in the music industry, both on stage and off. We also chat about their time in the SU, how they incorporate their life into their own works and how more people should dance at classical music concerts!
Lav recommends Scott Joplin’s ‘Bethena’ (1905), a gorgeous piano piece he wrote after his wife tragically passed away just ten weeks after their wedding. They also recommend ‘Gay Guerrilla’ (1979) by Julius Eastman as well as Jessie Montgomery’s ‘Break Away’ from her album ‘Strum: Music for Strings’ for string quartet as great works by underrepresented composers.
Have a great day!
